Facebook redesigns Timeline with cleaner layout, more streamlined content
Facebook Timeline is now much cleaner and easier to browse. The update follows the recent major update to News Feed that also focused on cleaner interface.
Facebook has announced rolling out improvements to Timeline in a bid to make it easier for users to express what they find important to them. The update, among other things, includes revamped sections that allows users to have one segment to keep music, movies, TV shows and books.
Keeping in line with recently launched clutter-free News Feed,Facebook is now providing a cleaner Timeline layout. Users can now see their latest posts on the right side of the Timeline, while photos, music, and other activities on the left panel.
“We heard from you that the current timeline layout is sometimes hard to read. Starting today, all posts are on the right side of your timeline, with photos, music and other recent activity on the left,” says Facebook about the new layout.
Users can now add other apps to share more things on the site. For an example, users can include Instagram photo stream as a section on their timeline. Users can remove the app from their About page, using the Activity Log.
Facebook's update to the timeline comes days after the social networking rolled out the much-awaitedupdate to it News Feed with special focus on minimalism in design, and greater visibility for shared media – photos and videos. The News Feed now looks more uniform to the company's mobile apps for Android and iOS.
Facebook News Feed is now more topic specific, allowing users to have a better tap on the info they are looking for, but equally, the advertisers would have a more precise platform to target.
